The Bullets

  • Terror at a Pride parade: German officials say the man who drove a van into a crowd at Berlin's Pride event, killing one person and hurting 29, was an Islamist attacker. Police shot him dead Sunday after he came at them with a blade.

  • Talks on, bombs paused: Trump says he's having "good talks" with Iran and a deal is possible, but warned strikes come back if it falls apart. Iran denies asking for talks. Oil dropped hard on the news.

  • Mail-in ballots at the Supreme Court: The Trump team asked the Supreme Court to let it build a national list of eligible voters, with mail ballots going only to people on it. Lower courts blocked it. 23 states are suing.

  • Toys beat the tablet: Toy Story 5 became 2026's biggest movie with over $1 billion. The plot? Woody and Buzz fight for a kid's attention after she gets a tablet. Somehow that hit close to home.

Your Pastor, the Chatbot?

New Barna study just dropped and I can't stop thinking about one number.
Hit me.
48% of practicing Christians say they'd trust AI with their spiritual growth.
Almost half?? Of church people?
And about 1 in 3 American adults say AI's spiritual advice is as trustworthy as a pastor's.
Ok that one hurts. Is it just young people?
Worse for the young. It's 39% of Gen Z and 44% of Millennials.
So the future of the church is asking a chatbot for wisdom.
Here's the flip side though. 83% of those same Christians worry AI will twist Scripture.
Wait, they trust it AND they're scared of it?
The researcher literally called the data "confounding."
Honestly that's just... us. We know the junk food is bad and eat it anyway.
And here's the kicker. Only 12% of pastors feel ready to help people think through any of this.
So the sheep are already out there and the shepherds are still figuring it out.
Which is probably the real story.

Spiritual Perspective

AI can hand you a verse in a second. It cannot sit with you at 2 a.m., or weep at your mom's funeral, or know when you're lying to yourself. God gave us each other on purpose, telling us not to neglect "meeting together" (Hebrews 10:25). Use the tool if it helps. But get your soul cared for by people who know your name.
