Welcome back to High on Christ! Yesterday marked 25 years since 9/11. A quarter century later, families are still saying the names. This morning, we're making room to remember with them. First, here's what else happened.

Here's what the world is up to.

The Bullets

  • Britain says no: British lawmakers voted down a bill letting doctors help dying adults end their lives in England and Wales. The vote was 286–270. Both sides want better care for dying people.

  • More missiles: North Korea fired missiles toward the sea after the U.S., South Korea, and Japan ended war drills. It happened early Saturday there, still Friday on the West Coast.

  • Russia bill hits a snag: The House may vote next week on new trade penalties for Russia. Some lawmakers fear it gives Trump too much power to tax imports. It isn't law yet.

  • Faith in captivity: A new story revisits Debbie Dortzbach’s 1974 kidnapping. She stitched Psalm 34 onto a bandage while held captive, then spent years serving in Africa with her husband.

Twenty-Five Years Later

Did you know the names read at the 9/11 ceremony include people killed in 1993?
Wait, from a different attack?
Yeah. The World Trade Center was bombed eight years before 9/11. Those victims are remembered at the same ceremony.
I've watched parts of it. I never caught that.
And the pauses have a purpose. Six mark when the planes hit, the towers fell, and Flight 93 crashed.
So they follow the times things actually happened?
Right. This year's program listed a seventh silence, too, for people who later died from illnesses and injuries tied to 9/11.
That part gets lost when we only talk about what happened that morning.
It does. And the people reading the names are family members of the victims.
Twenty-five years later, they're still getting up there to say those names.
Yeah. For the rest of us it's an anniversary. They're remembering someone they knew.

Spiritual Perspective

“Jesus wept” (John 11:35). He knew He would raise Lazarus, and still He grieved. We can trust the risen Christ and miss someone terribly. Pray for the families still carrying this loss, and check on someone who’s grieving. You don’t need a speech. Just show up.
