Devo Boosts?!
1. The Last Christian Hospital in Gaza. Gone.
One lie to sow destruction.
We treat lies as negligible wrongs, innocent deviations from the truth. We fail to recognize the deeper malevolence buried beneath. Lies, no matter how small, serve as catalysts for other sins.
Sadly, today we witness a lie that has erupted on a global scale.
The last Christian hospital in Gaza found itself in the crossfire of war. Its casualties are caught in the relentless exchange of blame. Hamas blames Israel, and Israel blames the Islamic Jihad. The truth dies in this volley of accusations.
One side has used the deaths of 500 to defame their opponent.
A lie.
This single sin will sow confusion, breed conflict, and lead to destruction. We must never forget the hidden toxin of a lie and its power to destroy and divide.
Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, but those who act faithfully are his delight. - Proverbs 12:22
We must allow the Holy Spirit to cultivate a disdain for deception. Beyond that, we must ardently clutch to the Word of truth.
2. On this day…
On October 18, 1867, the U.S. acquired Alaska from Russia for roughly two cents per acre, an action dismissed as "Seward's Folly." Yet, beneath the icy surface lay abundant resources - gold and oil, turning what appeared a folly into an incredible bargain. Just goes to show that value often lies where least expected.
Like those who first dismissed Alaska, no one recognized the immeasurable worth of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. But beneath the apparent desolation of the cross, we find the greatest treasure — mercy, grace, and endless love.
