$5000 Fine for Flags
Yosemite just fired a ranger for hanging a HUGE trans pride flag on El Capitan

The flag went up in May, about 55x35 feet
That’s massive. Why was the ranger fired?
Park officials said it was “unacceptable conduct.” The next day they banned flags on natural features
Reports say they even backdated the rule
Is it legal to backdate something like that?
That’s the controversy. Joslin was fired August 12 and may sue
So the ranger hung a huge flag off duty, then a new rule appeared, and then came the firing?

Banners like “Stop the Genocide” and upside-down U.S. flags have been appearing on El Capitan
So this was part of a bigger crackdown?
Yes. Now violations can bring a $5000 fine and 6 months in jail
