Here's what the world is up to.

The Bullets

  • Diplomacy by day, missiles by night: Hours after peace talk, the U.S. and Saudi Arabia struck Iran-backed groups inside Iraq, blaming them for drone attacks on Saudi oil sites. Iran denies ordering those attacks. Oil jumped over $3 a barrel.

  • Japan digs through the rubble: The death toll from Japan's earthquake reached 13. Rescuers pulled eight people from a collapsed shopping mall, but three didn't make it, and four workers are still missing. About 260,000 people were sent to shelters.

  • Shredding books to feed the machine: AI companies are buying old books by the pallet, scanning them, then cutting them up. Rare titles nobody else ever scanned are just gone.

  • A warning that came late: Pfizer will settle thousands of lawsuits from women who say its birth control shot gave them brain tumors. The FDA made Pfizer add that warning in December.

  • Feds probe a kissing assignment: A Denver teacher allegedly pressured students to kiss classmates of the same sex. The district fired her, and now the feds are investigating whether parents were ever told.

Raided at Dawn

Remember Paul Vaughn? The pro-life dad in Tennessee?
Vaguely. What happened to him again?
2022. Armed FBI agents show up at his house before dawn. He's got eleven kids inside.
Eleven?! What did they think he did?
He was at a sit-in at an abortion clinic the year before. Praying, singing hymns.
That's it? That's a predawn raid?
His actual role that day was passing messages between the police and the protesters.
So he was basically the middleman and they came in armed.
They charged him under a federal law. He got convicted, including a felony.
For a sit-in. Man.
Trump pardoned him last year while it was on appeal. But he still sued over the raid.
And?
The DOJ just settled with him. His lawyers say it's seven figures.
Wait, the government paid HIM?
His attorneys call it an admission the whole thing was overreach. DOJ hasn't put out its own statement saying that.
Still. Four years of your life to get there.
He'd probably say the kids remember that morning either way.

Spiritual Perspective

Sometimes vindication comes, and it's right to be glad when it does. But four years is a long time to wait on a maybe. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer... let your requests be made known to God" (Philippians 4:6). Whatever you're waiting on today, He is not slow, and He has not forgotten your address.
