Welcome back to High on Christ! A toddler’s death raises hard questions about suffering, care, and who gets to decide. We read the report. But first…

Here's what the world is up to.

The Bullets

  • A family’s fight: Massachusetts parents say the state took their daughter away after they rejected her gender claims on religious grounds. They dispute abuse claims too.

  • Walking it back: Al Mohler, who leads Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, says he was wrong to back laws punishing blasphemy. He now rejects those laws and says government should never force religious belief.

  • Paid to stay home? A White House plan would let some married parents use federal child care funds to stay home. Christian conservatives are split. It’s still a proposal, with key details unreleased.

  • Unexpected agreement: Senator Bernie Sanders and former Trump adviser Steve Bannon both called for stronger AI rules Tuesday. Sanders urged a pause deal with China; Bannon called for action from the president.

Not Yet Two

A toddler was euthanized in the Netherlands last year. The review came out last week.
A toddler?
Not quite two.
How does a kid that young agree to that?
They couldn’t. Their parents asked the doctor to do it.
Why?
Severe brain damage. Seizures every day. Trouble breathing.
Doctors thought the baby would die very young.
Man. Were there really no other options?
Some outside doctors wanted more treatment first.
They tried another medicine, but the side effects made things worse.
And then they went ahead?
A different doctor backed the decision. The review says the rules were followed.
I can’t imagine watching your kid suffer like that.
But I can’t get past someone choosing death for them.

Spiritual Perspective

Genesis 1:26–31 presents human life as made in God’s image. That dignity remains amid disability and suffering. Decisions about a child’s care can be deeply painful and difficult to navigate. We should approach families and doctors with humility, prayer, and compassion, seeking to protect life and relieve suffering.
