  • AI and bioweapons: Anthropic says it blocked five cases where people used Claude in ways that could support biological weapons research, and tightened safeguards.

  • $5k if they win?: Trump promised every adult a $5,000 "Trump dividend" if Republicans hold the House and Senate. Buying votes? Critics ask. Congress would still have to approve it, and the price tag is huge.

A UC Irvine prof wants Nick Shirley murdered.
What the.
Who's Nick Shirley?
He's a journalist.
Went viral for exposing about $27M in fraud at fake Minnesota childcare centers.
Then he went to expose fraud in California. For some reason, Democrats don't like him.
Dang. So this professor wanted him dead?
Apparently. Under an Instagram post promoting Nick Shirley, he wrote, "Someone can do the funniest thing just before the Kirkiversary."
Maaaan that's dark.
Kirkiversary?
Republican figure Charlie Kirk was assassinated on a campus a year ago. The comment landed right before that anniversary.
Was Shirley gonna speak somewhere?
Yeah. Harvard Republican Club was promoting his talk. Shirley says threats like that keep coming, and he's raising money for security.
If he's exposing fraud, why wouldn't California Democrats like him?
Not sure, but they passed a controversial law that allegedly penalizes him for doing his work, and the timing is suspicious. Republicans even nicknamed this new law the "Stop Nick Shirley" Act.
Democrats say it's about protecting people who serve immigrants. Shirley says it penalizes reporting and violates free speech.
Politics aside, joking about murder is still evil, right?
Scripture's clear. "You shall not murder." You don't need to make Kirk a saint, or Shirley a hero, to say assassination jokes are dark and wrong.
Life isn't a meme.
Exactly. Jesus is King. Pray for cooler hearts and safer campuses.

Spiritual Perspective

Murder isn’t a punchline. Winking at an assassination reveals a heart of sin. "Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer" (1 John 3:15). Still, we must pray for hearts to be changed, recognizing that without Christ on the cross, our hearts are just as dark.
