THE NEWS

Religion vs Work

Guess what? I can legally invite my employees to church now!
Wait… what? How is that even allowed?
The feds just changed the rules. Federal workers can talk about religion at work now.
As long as it’s not harassment, I can pray on breaks or even say, “Hey, wanna come to church?”
That’s wild. Why the sudden change?
The Office of Personnel Management updated the policy after a Supreme Court case.
It’s all about protecting religious expression in federal workplaces.
Okay, but if a boss asks, wouldn’t people feel pressured to say yes?
The policy covers that. You can always say no. Zero punishment.
And it’s not just Christianity — any faith, or even no faith, can be shared.
I get it. I just worry about mixing work and faith. Some people just want a neutral space.
I hear you. But faith’s part of who we are. Why hide what gives us hope?
That’s fair. As long as it’s done gently.
Exactly. Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light shine before others.” I think that includes the office.

Hiking Accident

Did you hear about Angela Lin in Yosemite?
No… who’s that?
29‑year‑old Google engineer. She was hiking Tuolumne Grove when a massive sequoia branch fell and killed her instantly.
On that main trail?!
I’ve hiked it so many times.
Yeah. Clear skies, no wind. Her boyfriend tried CPR, but she was gone before help arrived.
Why in the world would God let trees just kill someone like that?
And it’s not the first time. In 2015, two teens were crushed by a falling limb while camping. Last year, a man died on Four Mile Trail the same way.
Why would a good God let that happen?
Not sure, but it reminds me of Job.
God let Satan take everything, and in the moment it made no sense at all.
Never understood the point.
Job’s story became a pillar of faith for billions of Christians after him.
His suffering turned into a testimony no comfort could have written.
You think Angela’s story could be like that?
I don’t know what God is doing. But I know this… He doesn’t waste even a falling branch. What feels like chaos now may echo into eternity.
That’s hard to hear… but also the only thing that makes sense.
One day, we’ll see the full picture. His ways are always higher.
