  • “You can’t silence me”: Israel’s leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, called out NYC Mayor Mamdani at the UN Thursday. Mamdani had sought his arrest over alleged war crimes. Dozens of delegates walked out during the speech.

  • Two deaths, one question: Two Ole Miss students died separately Monday. Police found kratom, an herbal drug, at both scenes and warned people to avoid it. Whether it caused either death is still unknown.

  • Easter left out? A lawsuit filed last week says Dearborn paid for Ramadan displays but ignored requests for Easter and Passover. The Michigan city denies favoring one faith over others.

  • Fewer coffee stops: Starbucks said Thursday it will close about 250 North American stores this week. The company says those shops can’t offer the service it wants or make enough money.

Cruel Goodbye

A Seattle couple is suing an Oregon hospital over how it handled their baby’s body.
Their baby died there?
Yeah. Michael was eight months old. They’d rushed him in with breathing trouble.
They say staff then told them to drive his body home themselves.
In their own car?
Four hours back to Seattle.
Man. They couldn’t get a funeral home to do that?
They asked. They say staff told them it would cost too much.
No offer to keep him there while they made other plans, either.
I wouldn’t even be able to drive.
His dad says he was scared he’d crash. He was in shock.
The hospital says it was following the family’s wishes, though.
Yeah. It says it followed its rules and Oregon law too.
That’s a very different story. When did this happen?
September 2024. The parents filed their $10 million lawsuit last week.
Two years. I can’t imagine having to keep going over that night.

Spiritual Perspective

Grief can make comfort feel out of reach. Paul knew suffering beyond his strength, and it taught him to depend on God, who raises the dead (2 Corinthians 1:8–9). Faith doesn’t require us to feel okay. We can lean on Christ through tears, and let others help carry the weight.
