Arrested at Worship

Police in Algeria arrested all 12 Christians at a worship service on September 4.
For going to church?
For meeting without permission, according to Morning Star News.
They were in an apartment at a shelter for women and families.
Why an apartment?
Authorities closed the worship hall there in 2019. They kept meeting in another room.
So they closed the hall, then arrested them for meeting somewhere else?
Yeah. Police took their Christian books, phones and IDs too.
Some of the men were held until 3 in the morning.
Man. Over a worship service.
Can they apply to get a place approved?
The report says applications have gone unanswered.
You need permission, but nobody answers when you ask.
Yeah. The Christians fear they could still face charges.

Hebrews 10 reminds suffering believers that Jesus has opened the way to God. It urges them to keep gathering and caring for one another as they await his return. Meeting under threat brings hard choices. Let’s pray for these Christians’ safety, wisdom, and strength to hold on to Christ.
