Welcome back to High on Christ! A man sat in front of the Senate yesterday and said 24 words. Then he said almost nothing, over 100 times in a row. But first…

Here's what the world is up to.

The Bullets

  • Free beer, revoked permit: Wisconsin is pulling the liquor permit of a brewery that promised free beer the day Trump dies. The state cites unpaid beer taxes. The owner calls it payback.

  • Your AI chats might be public: People's chats with the bot Claude showed up in Google results, medical records and all. The company says that only happens to links users shared publicly.

  • Taxpayer-funded pipes: Reporters visiting an LA homeless shelter say staff handed them meth pipes without asking for any ID. The site runs on about $26 million a year in public money.

  • Built in the dark: Big Tech is getting data centers approved by having local officials sign secrecy agreements first, sometimes using shell companies so nobody knows who's really building. Neighbors find out after the deal's done.

5th Amendment Abuse

Dr. Fauci went before the Senate yesterday. America's Covid guy, ran the disease agency for 40 years.
How'd it go?
They asked about his pandemic diaries.
"I will invoke my right under the Fifth Amendment."
They asked where Covid came from.
"I will invoke my right under the Fifth Amendment."
They asked what he knew and when.
Let me guess.
"I will invoke my right under the Fifth Amendment."
How many times??
Over a hundred. From a man who testified to Congress hundreds of times and said he'd always cooperate.
Isn't staying silent his right though?
Completely. It exists so you don't help build a case against yourself. His lawyers told him to use it.
So is 100 times abusing it, or just using it?
Depends who you ask. Critics say he's hiding. His side says that's exactly what it's for.
Either way, silence sounds like something.
Even when it legally isn't. Rand Paul is calling a contempt vote next week.

Spiritual Perspective

We may never get the full story on this side of things, and that's maddening. But nothing stays buried forever: "Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known" (Luke 12:2). Pray for actual truth to surface, and check your own heart while you wait. It's easy to want accountability for people we dislike and mercy for ourselves.

God is God. If He is God, He is worthy of my worship and my service. I will find rest nowhere else but in His will.
