  • Crime is falling fast: Murders in big American cities dropped 18% in the first half of this year, heading toward a historic low. Carjackings fell 47%.

  • The AI got out. Again. Anthropic says a setup mistake let its Claude models break into three real companies' systems during safety testing. It found the problem while reviewing 141,000 test sessions.

  • Hackers hit the water supply: More than 30 Minnesota water systems were attacked at once. Hackers changed passwords, messed with water pressure and caused flooding. Some towns had to run their systems by hand.

  • Scouts drop DEI spaces: At a jamboree of 15,000 kids, Scouting America got rid of separate areas for gay scouts, girls and scouts of color. The Defense Secretary had pushed back, with the group's 100-year Pentagon ties on the line.

17 Years, Then Fired

A hospital just paid a Christian physician assistant $410,000.
For what?
Firing her. She worked there 17 years with good reviews.
So what happened?
A required training video. It asked her to affirm things about gender that went against her faith.
And she said no?
She said she couldn't say those words or use those pronouns, and asked for a religious exemption.
They fired her over a video?
Over that, and refusing to be part of gender transition procedures. Gone after 17 years.
That was 2021 right? What took so long?
A lower court tossed her case. She appealed and won the right to sue last year.
And now they're paying up.
Plus they're changing the policy. Staff can now opt out of things that conflict with their faith.
Honestly that part matters more than the money.
Way more. That protects the next person.

Spiritual Perspective

Standing firm cost her a career she'd built for nearly two decades, and there was no guarantee she'd ever get it back. That's what conviction actually costs. "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake" (Matthew 5:10). Not every stand ends in a settlement. Take it anyway, and leave the results with God.
